Layout Basics
The cover page design of a communication medium contains the so called communication module. It is placed on the top right side of the page and contains the logo, a headline und an optional subline. Special logos or symbols are placed outside of the communication module. This design element is also used for other applications that require a cover design.
Variants:
For vertical formats with head- and subline the spacing and width of the communication module are clearly defined - see graphic. For square and horizontal formats with head- and subline the width of the communication module may vary. The minimum page margin of 1/2 R must always be maintained though. In layouts without a head- and subline the height and width of the communication module may vary. The minimum page margin of 1/2 R must always be maintained though. In layouts without a head- and subline and complete white ground (e.g. stationery, business cards) the communication module should be avoided. The logo though must be placed according to the definied positioning (top right). The communication module must be used on colored ground or lively images.

Formula for the calculation of "R"
- The value "R" (for Rand = frame) is derived from the size of the medium. The standard formula for the calculation is:
R = (Width + Heiht of the medium) : 30 - The resulting value of "R" is rounded (up or down) to the closest integer.

Sample: double page image

Sample: world format with text
Type area layout
The type area within a medium consists of the clear division into columns.
The column width is half of the defined value R
Number of columns on DIN- / world format = 10/page

Highlight Areas
Inset
The Wacker Neuson Group-CD contains only few design elements. One universal design element is an inset. Insets are
- used for chapter entry pages, to highlight headlines and intro text or important data or info
- placed on the outer edge of the page reaching to the inside
- designed with a white or any other defined color background.
As font colors, the colors defined under "Colors" may be used. A consitent usage per communication medium is reqiured though.

Polaroid Style
- The polaroid style can be used to highlight images.
- The image has a whith frame of about 6pt. According to the size this value may vary.
- Polaroid styled images are placed in one row and are NOT inclined.
