Labels

Packaging labels

Packaging labels are applied to both sales packaging, outer packaging, transport packaging and provide information about the contents.

Packaging branding

Product labels

Product labels are placed directly on the product and are used when products cannot be printed directly or fulfill the purpose of product branding.

Product labels

Design variations

A distinction is made between two design variants and the features listed here are indications of the variant to be used:

Standard
  • Products that are often assembled immediately and are usually not displayed in the showroom, such as spark plugs, belts

  • Packaging that is usually opened and disposed of immediately

  • Label printer can only print b/w

  • Labels are often issued by mobile label printers

  • Label printing software does not allow for great design options

  • Label size mostly under 10 cm height
Premium
  •  Higher quality products or packaging

  • Packaging is often additionally branded

  • Articles are displayed in sales rooms such as oils, diamond discs, etc.

  • Label printers can print 4-color and edge-to-edge

  • Label size larger than 10 cm height

Typography - fonts and styles

Wacker Neuson's corporate design font is used for the labels. Helvetica New LT W1G is used in 75 Bold and 45 Light weights.

The HYQiHei in the 45S and 80S weights is used for lettering in Chinese.

The product name is given in English and capital letters. This is followed by translations into German, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.

Color range

The following colors are allowed for the design of the labels. The colors are based on the grey tones of the corporate design, but are adapted.

Logo-Versions

Depending on the printing process, the following logo versions can be used. For the spare part branding only the logos without claim are used.

Layout Standard Labels

Fixed design guidelines
  • Logo marking by monochrome picture mark on the top right side
  • Font Helvetica New LT W1G or Arial
  • Product name EN in bold and capital letters
  • The unit of R is derived from the format size of the media. The standard formula for calculating R is: R = (width + height of the media) : 70. The result for R is rounded up or down (always to the nearest whole number)

Variable design guidelines
  • Display of content information can be individually adapted to the label size

Layout Premium Labels

Layout of Labels

All labels are divided into areas in a ratio of 3 to 5.

In the upper area, the Wacker Neuson 2D image mark is used as a watermark, it is the connecting element of all spare parts branding elements.

The white areas for product names and part numbers can be expanded as needed by content (e.g.: product data sheet).

A: area with watermark - position of product icons
B: area for product name, technical information and translations
C: area for part number, EAN- and QR-Code
D: area for addresses and logos

Figurative mark as a watermark

The figurative mark is placed in the bleed in the grey area. The orientation point is the inner outline of the W, which should no longer be visible in the area.

To use the watermark area, the file is always scaled proportionally to the calculated height of the area in the layout and the grey area is then extended to the left accordingly.

1. Scale proportionally to height
2. Extend to the left

Icons

For quick orientation, the individual product groups of the spare parts range are represented by icons.

The icons are always placed centered in the upper area of the labels and pick up the light color value (light grey 0/0/0/18) of the lower area.

Assignment of all elements

All contents of the labels are organized within the divided areas.

The distance between the white areas and the overlap in the upper surface of the labels is set to 3 mm. In exceptional cases, however, this distance can be adjusted to achieve a balanced appearance (see transport packaging with 5 mm).

The brand logos are placed without a claim and can therefore be used smaller than the rule specified in the CD guidelines.

In the case of packaging labels, if the outer packaging is branded, the brand logos on the label may be dispensed with.

  1. Icons centered in the upper area
  2. Product naming in English as main identification
  3. Brand logos aligned at the bottom of the white area
  4. Product name in the languages: German, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese
  5. Part number, EAN- and QR-Code
  6. Address in the middle set centered positioned

Packaging

Packaging logo

  • The packaging logo is to be regarded as a fixed size and is used in this form only for packaging branding.
  • The minimum height is 50 mm (= diameter of the logo).
  • If the minimum height cannot be guaranteed, the figurative mark is used alone and the product brands (flap) are not displayed. However, the positioning on the cardboard boxes remains the same.

Carton box

Positioning

Lateral logo
  • The longer side (L x W x H) of the packaging is always the front or serves as the basis for positioning.
  • This side is divided vertically by three and horizontally by two. This provides the positioning surface for the logo.
  • The logo is positioned using the placement line (inner, filled corner of the W) and is reduced or enlarged until the logo meets one of the protection zone edges of the placement area. The logo is always displayed as large as possible.
  • Note the lateral protection zone - see below.
Figurative mark on the lid
  • The figurative mark is positioned at the top left of the lid.
  • The size of the figurative mark on the lid is 50% of the total height of the lateral figurative mark.
  • The distance to the edge at the top and left is 50 % of the logo diameter on the lid.

Positioning of the labels

The product labels are attached to the right edge of the front of the carton. The W in the figurative mark serves as orientation for the placement of the labels.

Protection zone
  • The lateral protection zone of the logo is at least 3A.
  • If the protection zone cannot be respected, the logo must be reduced in size by a percentage.
  • However, the minimum height of 50 mm must be guaranteed, otherwise only the figurative mark will be used.

Colors

There are two different colour variants for printing on the packaging. A monochrome print is used on brown outer packaging. Two-colour printing can be used on white cartons.

Further branding elements

Pressure closure bag

When designing the pressure closure bags, the areas are also laid out in a ratio of 5 to 3 and adjusted according to the scaling.

The logos are used here in the 1c version and placed in the lower part.

Example:

Pressure closure bag 155 x 240 mm
Font naming Bold | 20 pt
Font part number Light | 14 pt
Height brand logos 7 mm
Margin left 13.5 mm
Distance white area 5 mm

B: Area for naming and further notes
C: Area for part number
D: Logos in 1c-Version

Product data sheet

The product data sheets are also divided into areas in a ratio of 5 to 3 and adapted accordingly.

The white area is used to display the information.

On the data sheets, the logo variants are inserted in 4c and placed in the lower area again.
