A silver-spade ceremony marked theofficial beginning of construction at the new Wacker Neuson plant inHörsching (Upper Austria). Work can begin right away as foundations havealready been laid. According to the current schedule, the first compactequipment should be rolling off the production line as early as thebeginning of May 2012.'We are delighted to see construction work get underway,' says MartinLehner, Deputy Chairman of the Wacker Neuson SE Executive Board and head ofthe compact equipment segment. 'Growing demand for our products has clearlystretched capacity at our Leonding plant to the limit, and this isaccentuated by our strategic alliance with Caterpillar for the manufactureof excavators weighing up to 3 tonnes.'The new production plant is being built on a 160,000 m2 plot of land,giving Wacker Neuson huge scope to expand production capacity as needsevolve. It will also bring new jobs to the region. 'Our company is growing- not just in terms of revenue but also headcount. We currently employ 350people and will be creating many new job opportunities with the new plant,'explains Johannes Mahringer, General Manager of Wacker Neuson Linz GmbH.Wacker Neuson is investing around EUR 65 million - including purchasing anddeveloping the site - in what will be one of the largest, most modernplants for compact equipment in the world. The 16-hectare site in Hörschingis located next to the airport and will be home to a state-of-the-artproduction hall, with testing grounds and an administrative building. Thebuildings will stretch across approximately 50,000 m2.
