The Wacker Neuson Group is building a new production facility for steel components at its Kragujevac location in Serbia to drive the Group’s growth plans and make its internal supply chain more resilient. The project officially got underway at a groundbreaking ceremony on February 28, 2022. The Group plans to expand its activities and create many new job opportunities in Serbia, investing around EUR 23 million in 2022, followed by additional investments for subsequent construction phases. Equipped with state-of-the-art production and automation technologies, the first construction phase of the new plant is scheduled to go on stream in October 2022 with a footprint of 20,000 m2 and an option to expand this by a further 30,000 m2.
Felix Bietenbeck, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Technology Officer of the Wacker Neuson Group Executive Board, commented at the groundbreaking ceremony: “As an important supplier of steel components, our Kragujevac location has been part of the Wacker Neuson Group’s success story for many years now. Due to our strong growth in recent years, our existing capacities have long been pushed to the limit. That is why we decided to build a new production site and strengthen our presence in Serbia in the process. With this new manufacturing facility, we will not only be able to respond more efficiently to the requirements of the global market, but also create new jobs while leveraging state-of-the-art production and automation technologies.”
